FAQ

Can you tell me what to expect during a portrait session? Any tips to help make the session successful?

Newborn:
The ideal time to photograph a newborn baby is 5-14 days old. Babies are sleepier and more easily posed during this period. Newborn sessions typically last 2-3 hours but can go longer depending upon whether they are multiples or if parent and sibling shots are included. I have everything needed for your session from props to outfits. I have collected clothes, bonnets, hats, lovies, bowls, beds, fleece, baskets, vintage quilts, lace and so much more from around the world. You need to bring nothing but yourself and your baby. This is a time for you to relax and enjoy the experience! Leave everything else up to me! Even if your baby is older than 14 days, it is never too late to get portraits of your little one! There may be limits on certain poses as baby becomes more awake and less flexible, but we will still get beautiful images that you will cherish for a lifetime.

Maternity:
We recommend your maternity session to be around 30 weeks of pregnancy. Give us a call before the end of your second trimester to book! I have over 100 of the top designer gowns in my client wardrobe available for your use at no additional cost. A maternity session typically takes about an hour and is usually done at a nearby park or on the beach. Hair and makeup is available before your session for an additional fee. Partners and children are always welcome to participate in your session.

Family:
A family session typically takes 45 minutes to an hour. The session can take place in our studio, at an outdoor location, or even your home. Some favorite locations are Philippe Park, Honeymoon Island, Clearwater Beach, Ybor City, Sunken Gardens, and Downtown Tampa’s Riverwalk. We are happy to discuss clothing choices with you to help style your session to perfection! We encourage simple, classic clothing, to ensure that your photos stay timeless. Earth tones are an excellent choice, and it’s best to avoid clothing with words or brand names on them. Dressing everyone in clothes that compliment each other looks more natural, rather than dressing everyone in the exact same color. For example, you might dress everyone in creams, pinks, and browns, or some other complimenting color scheme. Parents, siblings and grandparents are always welcome!

When will my images be ready to view and how do I get them?
Depending on the season, it may take as little as 2 weeks or as long as 6. Digital images are uploaded to an online gallery and are available to download as many times as you like by as many people as you like. We do offer rush services when requested for an additional fee.

If I purchased a print package, how long after my ordering appointment will my products take to arrive?
Approximately 3-4 weeks.

Why do you recommend products such as canvases and albums rather than just digital files?

One morning I was photographing a beautiful young woman at sunrise. She had just had her first child, a baby boy. As she held him up in the rising sun I was struck by the thought of his children seeing that image of their grandmother holding their daddy up that morning. A beautiful, vibrant young woman. Filled with love and hope and dreams for the future of her new son. The woman I saw that morning, someone vastly different from the old and wise grandmother they knew and loved. I realized that I had no photographs of my mother pregnant with me. My mom was born in 1920 and people didn’t shoot maternity and newborn images the way we do now when she had me in 1958. Now we celebrate the power, beauty and miracle of a woman’s body. This time when you are sharing your body with a baby you haven’t met but have loved from the moment you realized you were pregnant…documenting the transformation your body undergoes in order to support and nourish a life. The miracle of pregnancy, the supreme feminine state. How can I NOT recommend that those images be printed on an archival quality medium that will last for generations?
